England isn’t UK

Regarding Grant Frazer’s letter on “England” being used as a synonym for “UK” (2 October), I once heard a naval officer say he was very proud when he circumnavigated England.

I said, “that’s interesting”. He said it was. I then asked if his ship had wheels to go from the Solway Firth 80 plus miles to Northumberland. He said, “Well you know what I mean”.
