Counting the cost: Bar group Revolution sinks to loss after ‘disappointing’ year

-

Revolution Bars bemoaned a “disappointing year” as a protracted takeover battle, extreme weather and the football World Cup pushed the company to a full-year loss. The bars group, which also operates the Revolucion de Cuba brand, swung to a loss of £3.6 million for the year to June, compared to a profit of £5.1m a year earlier. There was an 8.7 per cent rise in sales to £141.9m, but like-for-likes fell 0.6 per cent. It was hit by “well-documented levels of corporate activity”, having been the subject of a takeover tussle between Deltic and Stonegate last year.
