St Johnstone A pair of positives

The positives to take from the game at Tynecastle were twofold. Firstly, while well short of the better performances this season, we created enough chances to have taken something from the game. Secondly, in the last 20 minutes with Danny Swanson and Tony Watt on as substitutes, the intensity in Saints’ play rose significantly. Danny’s directness and Tony’s wily ways really threaten and put Hearts’ defence under real pressure.

Saints need to work on defending balls played into the box from set pieces. The goals lost from that source are mounting up. More physicality from defenders would help but, more importantly, using some nous to stop known threats getting on the ball so easily is needed.
