Barr steps in as interim manager

-

Stirling Albion have appointed club defender Darren Barr as interim manager following the sacking of Dave Mackay and his assistant, Fraser Wright.

Barr, who has also played for Falkirk, Hearts, Ross County and Dumbarton and was manager of Morton’s under-20s, has stepped in following the 3-0 defeat by Albion Rovers on Saturday that led to Mackay’s dismissal.

Mackay, who had been in charge at Forthbank since November 2016, was told he was being removed from his post within an hour of Saturday’s game, with Stirling officials telling him of their decision in a corridor at Cliftonhill only yards from the dressing room.

Wright was due to take training tonight but was told on Sunday that his services were no longer required by the League 2 side.
