Man charged over car murder attempt

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after another man was hit by a car in West Lothian.

A 30-year-old was treated in hospital after an incident on Glebe Road in Whitburn on 1 September. Police arrested two people.

Bret Cunningham, 21, appeared in private at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday charged with assault to severe injury, permanent impairment and attempted murder.

He is also charged with dangerous driving, driving without a licence or insurance, and attempting to pervert the course of justice. Cunningham, from Bathgate, made no plea and was remanded in custody.

Stuart Cunningham, 47, also appeared charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
