Rebus: Long Shadows
Edinburgh has a special relationship with Ian Rankin’s Rebus novels, set in a contemporary version of Scotland’s capital that cuts through the tartan clichés to something much more adult and recognisable. And now, one of Scotland’s leading playwrights, Rona Munro, has worked with Rankin to create a brand new Rebus thriller for the stage, co-produced by Birmingham Rep, and featuring Charles Lawson (Coronation Street’s Jim Mcdonald) as Rebus, with Mona Lisa star Cathy Tyson as his colleague Siobhan Clarke. Robin Lefevre directs, and the original lighting design is the last created by the great Chahine Yavroyan, who died last month.
