Teens try to murder man for phone

A man is in serious condition in hospital after he was targeted in an “unprovoked and brutal attack” by two teenagers trying to steal his mobile phone.

The 24-year-old was walking north on a cycle path near to Connaught Place in Edin- burgh when two youths came towards him.

As they passed they tried to steal his mobile phone and then attacked him.

The victim suffered serious injuries to his arms and abdomen and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are treating the attack as attempted murder and appealed for information about the incident, which happened at about 7:50pm on Monday.
