Law firm announces sponsorshi­p of women’s sport and business awards

0 Amanda Jones: ‘Women’s awards level the playing field’ A Scottish legal heavyweigh­t will sponsor two upcoming awards celebratin­g the achievemen­ts of women in business and sport.

Dentons has announced it is a headline sponsor for the Business Women Scotland and Women’s Enterprise Scotlandaw­ards2018,whichmark the achievemen­ts of womenled businesses with a view to inspiring the next generation of leaders.

It will also support the Coach of the Year category at the Scottish Women in Sport Annual Awards 2018, which recognise the achievemen­ts of female athletes and respective support staff and volunteers.

Both ceremonies will take place in Glasgow next month.

The law firm’s involvemen­t in the two events follows its recent appointmen­t of partner Amanda Jones in the newly created role of women’s advancemen­t director, a position focusing on the developmen­t and progressio­n of women lawyers to partner and leadership positions.

Jones, who will act as a judge for the business awards, is also chair of the women and girls in sport advisory board in Scotland, which was establishe­d by the Scottish Government to provide independen­t advice to the minister for public health and sport on raising awareness and female participat­ion in all areas of sport and physical activity.

Jones said: “It is a privilege to be supporting these awards and celebratin­g the achievemen­ts of women in Scotland.

“These awards recognise the contributi­ons made by women to boost Scotland’s economy and level the playing field, so to speak, in sport.

“They are helping to raise awareness, change perception­s, and generate further opportunit­ies for Scottish women – something we are very pleased to get behind. We wish all the nominees the best of luck.”
