Many people on Twitter reacted to the news that a Ryanair passenger who launched a racist tirade may “get away with it” due to the airline wanting to get the plane off the ground. Ryanair sparked outrage after apparently failing to remove the man, with Labour MP for East Hull Karl Turner saying the airline “failed spectacula­rly”.

SNP MP @joannacche­rry wrote: “This nasty little scene is the end result of what happens when your government sets out to create a #Hostileenv­ironment. Kudos to those who intervened. Shame on those who didn’t and on @Ryanair.”

Paddy Mcguinness and Andrew Flintoff will be the new presenters of Top Gear, the BBC has confirmed. The pair will take over from American sitcom star Matt Leblanc after he steps down from presenting duties.
