#ARTICLE50
The UK can unilaterally revoke its withdrawal from the EU, according to a European Court of Justice advocate general’s legal opinion. Manuel Campos Sanchez-bordona rejected the contention that Article 50 only allows the possibility of revocation following a unanimous decision of the European Council.
@Hereanonboss asked: “Does ‘unilaterally’ include only @theresa_may opinion or People’s Vote still has power?”
@Sandraweston12 tweeted: “It ignores the fact that the majority of the UK voted for Brexit, so the sooner we can achieve this the better. European parliament are acting as bullies, whereas my family and friends throughout Europe thoroughly understand why the UK wants to leave.”
@Andrewcasey16 said: “Will we ever wake up and find the Brexit fantasy is over and the Brextremists have all resigned?”
@Lokos1970 posted: “Like standing on the gallows, pulling the lever yourself, and believing the final snap of the neck is somehow the pot of gold. Article 50, the greatest act of delusion, political self-interest, and economic suicide in the history of UK politics.” @quantumhealer1 wrote: “It’s an opinion, not a decision. There is no ruling as yet.”
#CONTEMPTOF PARLIAMENT
Opposition MPS, including the Conservatives’
DUP allies, pushed for contempt proceedings against Attorney General Geoffrey Cox, claiming he refused to publish the full legal guidance given to ministers about the Brexit deal. Now he faces possible suspension from the House of Commons days before a crucial vote on Brexit
@Susanpickin tweeted: “@Rhonddabryant says his constituents will think the Government will have something to hide if it does not publish the legal advice and it will set a precedent for when the Government is in opposition.”
@realgmg67 stated: “Never mind been in #Contemptofparliament, the whole lot of the Tories should be before a court on a charge of dereliction of duty to look after its own citizens for all the poverty in the UK.”
@rodkelly50 posted: “Don’t worry, the Government will be saved by intellectual giant and procedural powerhouse… *checks notes* … Andrea Leadsom.”
