Pretty as a picture: Chinese New Year celebrations welcome the Year of the Pig
Members of the Glasgow Chinese community attended New Year celebrations for the Year of the Pig at George Square and the City Chambers yesterday.
Also known as the Spring Festival, hundreds of people turned out to watch the Dragon and Lion Dances in a traditional ceremony. Andy Chung, chairman of Chinese Cultural and Welfare Society Scotland, said: “We are delighted to celebrate this very important event in our home city of Glasgow and we are pleased for the support of the Lord Provost to bring this colourful event to the heart of the city. We would like to thank our supporters.”
