USP Bijou mews

-

Mews houses in Edinburgh’s New Town are highly sought-after. Tucked behind the much grander Georgian properties in the UNESCO World Heritage site, these stable and outbuilding conversions offer a more modest home, but are still in

the beating heart of the Capital and have some delightful characteristics of their own.

The two-up, two-down mews at 2 Nelson Place has just come on to the market for the first time in 40 years and it is a charming terraced house situated in a quiet, but nevertheless very central spot.

The ground-floor level has been opened up to form a comfortable open-plan sitting room and diningkitchen, while the upstairs has two bedrooms and a bathroom.

None of the rooms are huge, but as well as making a great pied-à-terre, the house would make a perfect permanent home for a singleton or couple, with a great deal of ingenious storage space.

The sitting room has bespoke built-in shelves and under-stair storage, the kitchen has a range of floor and wall-mounted cabinetry,

granite work tops and integrated appliances. There is another cupboard upstairs, plus access to attic storage. Both bedrooms have with built-in wardrobes.

There is space outside the front door for flower pots and a sitting area – like the mews itself, it might be small but it is perfectly formed.
