Wow-factor homes with real country feel
Calderwood takes its cue from rural West Lothian setting, writes Kirsty Mcluckie
Bellway has launched two showhomes at Calderwood, East Calder, West Lothian, which are well placed for a country life in close proximity to a wealth of amenities.
Located close to Almondell and Calderwood Country Park, the Rosedale and Burgess type homes are open for viewing to showcase the lifestyle on offer at the development.
The units are a contemporary take on country house architecture and offer something out of the ordinary, both inside and out.
Lynn Pringle, head of sales (Scotland East) for Bellway, says: “We wanted showhomes with real wow-factor that would reflect the rural feel of the development.
“Calderwood has a very different look to our other developments with white bricks and wood panelling on the exterior, and the Burgess in particular has a rural, New England feel.”
The development will feature a selection of three, four and fivebedroomed luxury homes which have exteriors designed to blend in with the local architecture.
House types feature painted wood cladding and doors, white bricks, solar panels on the roof and decorative natural stone features.
The Burgess has a modern country house interior and has reportedly been popular with families. The fourbedroomed house has a downstairs lounge and a dining-kitchen with grey gloss shaker-style units and an informal seating area plus a separate utility room.
The highlight of the upper floor has to be the Wind in the Willows-themed child’s bedroom with its boat-shaped bed and secret forest mural.
The designers have taken inspiration from the country setting and created a woodland haven for the little ones with small tree-trunk chairs and fox, hedgehog and squirrel motifs.
A tree, complete with owl nestling in the branches, stands in one corner of the room and a canopy of branches is positioned over the bed.
The ensuite master bedroom offers a modern take on a traditional country house bedroom with its grand fullheight floral headboard and panelled wallpaper.
The three-bedroomed Rosedale showhome has painted blue wooden panelling and integrated garage with glass inserts.
Featuring a copper, grey and bronze colour palette, it has a large openplan lounge and dining room with full length glass patio doors.
A child’s bedroom upstairs has a Marvel Avengers theme with an eyecatching giant mural.
Properties currently available for reservation include the fourbedroomed detached Oakmont, from £264,995, the Pinehurst, from £285,995, and the five-bedroomed Victoria Trivilla, from £307,995.
Express Mover is available on selected housetypes at the development for those with a property to sell.
Calderwood has proved popular with commuters , being only 13 miles from Edinburgh and four miles from Livingston via the A71.
East Calder offers a selection of food stores, a bowling green, medical practice and dental clinic.
The local Excite sports centre has a gym and offers a wide range of fitness classes, sports and kids activities.
The nearest train station is located just two miles away in Kirknewton.
The showhomes at Calderwood are open Thursday, 11am-7pm, Friday and Monday, 9.30am to 5.30pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5.30pm.
