#BREXIT

The UK Government has promised £1.6 billion for ‘poorer’ British towns as the country prepares to leave the EU. @Dougchapmansnp tweeted: “£1bn extra for Northern Ireland to keep the Tories in power. £1bn extra for English regions to buy votes for May’s deal. This is what the United Kingdom has come to... and using your tax contributions to pay for it. This can’t go on.”

@peterwalker99 said: “Wow – communities secretary James Brokenshire says the government’s £1.6bn towns fund/brexit bribe is over six years. That’s about £260m a year. In government funding terms that’s a pathetically small sum.”

@lisanandy added: “My vote is not for sale and any long overdue investment in towns is no substitute for a permanent trading relationship with the EU.”
