The Queen this morning opened the Smith Centre at the Science Museum, Exhibition Road, London SW7, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa) and the Chairman of the Science Museum Group (Dame Mary Archer).

Her Majesty toured the Centre, escorted by Sir Ian Blatchford (Director of the Science Museum Group), viewing schoolchil­dren conducting scientific activities and meeting supporters andmembers of staff. The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investitur­e at Buckingham Palace this morning. CLARENCE HOUSE

The Prince of Wales, Royal Founding Patron, the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainabi­lity Leadership, this afternoon visited Polymateri­a Limited, Imperial White City Incubator, 80 Wood Lane, London W12, and was received by Mr. Kevin Mcgrath (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

His Royal Highness, Permanent Master, this evening attended the Worshipful Company of Shipwright­s’ Maritime Dinner at Fishmonger­s’ Hall, London Bridge, London EC4. The Duchess of Cornwall, President, WOW – Women of the World Festival, this afternoon held a Reception at Clarence House.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the National Literacy Trust, afterwards visited Avondale Park Primary School, Sirdar Road, London W11, to celebrate World Book Day.
