#CHRISTCHURCH
Nicola Sturgeon has joined leaders around the world in condemning the terror attacks on two mosques in New Zealand which have left 49 dead.
@Nicolasturgeon tweeted: “This is beyond awful. Innocent people being murdered as they worship is horrific and heartbreaking. My thoughts and solidarity are with New Zealand’s Muslim community and all of its people on this dark day.” While Prime Minister @ theresa_may added: “There can be no place in our societies for the vile ideology that drives and incites hatred and fear. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of New Zealand.” US senator @
Chrismurphyct posted: “Horrified by the news from Christchurch. America stands with our brothers and sisters in New Zealand today. We have so much work to do, in our country and across the world, to stamp out the hate that lurks in too many hearts.”
#PEACEFULMOSQUES
In light of the way some media outlets are covering the Christchurch shootings, Rami Ismail (@tha_rami) has people sharing #Peacefulmosques stories.
@tha_rami wrote: “At my #Peacefulmosques, we used to have this 5-ish year old kid that would always run in front of everyone during prayer, and when he grew old enough to realize that was improper he stopped doing that and I actually kinda missed him messing up my prayer.”
@Mrchad wrote: “There’s always someone selling roses at my local mosque.”
@roadsideharpy added: “They always have dates or some kind of sweets at the entrance, with water bottles for people to take freely. And a bag for donations of clothes.”
#CARPARKTAX
Angry SNP voters have written to Scottish ministers complaining about “unfair” plans to introduce a car park tax.
@gourdonboy posted: “This car park tax is an insane sop to the Greens. The SNP own this tax irrespective of whether councils apply it or not.”
@trulyscotpics asked: “How many long-serving Labour supporters dumped Labour when they implemented it in England in 2009…”
