May trumped?
Theresa May’s rocky relationship with US President Donald Trump was dealt a blow yesterday after the president’s son used an opinion column to accuse the Prime Minister of ignoring his father’s advice on Brexit.
Oh sure, like she is going to listen to “The Greatest Negotiator” who had to walk away from Kim Jong-un in just two days. Trump said his superior negotiating skills would allow him to quickly build a concrete wall along the southern border, funded by Mexico. Yada yada yada.
Keith Fuery “It is unclear what that advice was”? No, it’s not – Donald Trump’s advice has long been a matter of public knowledge: ‘Theresa May: Donald Trump told me to sue the EU.’
Ah’m No Bluffin Why was he even asked? Trump is proving to all that he hasn’t the first idea about business while presiding over the biggest deficit in over ten years and a record oneyear stock market fall since the Great Depression. He has done two things – started a trade war that has slowed global economic growth and given himself and his megarich pals in the US a massive tax break.
Dunnomuch When Obama criticised the Scottish Government for releasing Megrahi, my initial reaction was that he should not interfere. His Brexit intervention was also not needed, and was indeed seen as counterproductive. Trump’s son’s comments are similarly not needed.
