The option of revoking Article 50 and keeping the UK in the EU is “not off the table”, Nicola Sturgeon has said on the Andrew Marr Show as she claimed Theresa May was “effectively out of power”.

@keyboardandlens tweeted: “#nicolasturgeon on #marr thinks #indyref2 almost inevitable and wants to rejoin #EU when #UK leaves. Should make #hardborder - #softborder with UK negotiations interesting, if she gets her way and gives up #SNP hope of #Scotland’s independence for effective control by #Brussels.”

@Channel4news reported: “‘We must, all of us, including you Jeremy Corbyn, come together and demand a People’s Vote.’ Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, calls on the Labour and Conservative leadership to put Brexit ‘back to the people’.”

@Gwynoro posted: “What a great speech by a always impressive #Nicolasturgeon. I find it so sad poor judgment and lack of leadership by @jeremycorbyn to yet again ignore a #Peoplesvotemarch – it will have consequences for @ Uklabour down the line if it is seen to be supporting any

kind of #Brexit”.

#MAYCOUP

Reports in two Sunday papers suggested key cabinet members were actively seeking the Prime Minister’s resignation. Brexiteer Michael Gove and May’s close ally, David Lidington, were touted as interim replacements. Both have now denied their interest in the top job.

@Shippersunbound commented: “Michael Gove has been secretly building a leadership campaign team and is willing to become acting prime minister if his colleagues want him. He’s sceptical that Lidington can come up with an acceptable Brexit policy”

@Peston reported: “The cabinet coup against @ theresa_may is over before it even started. Authoritative sources close to @ michaelgove tell me he does not believe there should be a caretaker prime minister – so it won’t be him. And @ Dlidington has said on the record he does not want to be PM...”

@nickeardleybbc wrote: “BREAKING. Michael Gove speaks: This is a time for cool heads. We need to focus on the task at hand, getting the maximum support for the PM and her deal”.
