#DEBENHAMS
Debenhams has been placed into administration and the retailer’s lenders have seized control of the company.
@essextc said: “I would argue that unjustifiably calling out Brexit/project Fear on Debenhams undermines the argument on significant and genuine Brexit-related losses like JLR and Honda.”
@aj1892 added: “Debenhams has gone into administration, there goes most of my childhood. RIP – Woolworths, Our Price, Tower Records, Rumbelows, Blockbuster, Hugo Boss – too many to mention.”
@singingbathmatt posted: “Gutted to hear about #Debenhams, I tried really hard to buy my Christmas gifts from them last year and visited them several times. Can’t save them all, I guess.” On the subject of a buyover
@Grahamhiscott wrote: “Just announced that @Sportsdirectuk ‘does not intend to make an offer’ for @Debenhams now the chain has gone into administration. Not surprising but caps a saga to forget for Mike Ashley.”
@Jou_yu_ tweeted: “First Debenhams falls into #administration, then Senvion files to start #insolvency proceedings. It’s only Tuesday; save some of the headlines for the rest of the week please.” @bazzacollins quipped: “Think it might be time to reclaim the Sony Walkman I left in my locker when I left Debenhams in 1998. Reckon they’ll probably try and sell it otherwise.”
#SNP
A poll has shed light on the scale of the challenge facing both the Conservatives and Labour in Scotland as they try to make up ground on the SNP amid a deep crisis for both parties over Brexit. MP @joannaccherry tweeted: “Fits with my experience on the ground speaking to constituents in #Edinburghsouthwest. The SNP seen as having a strong & appreciated voice on #Brexit.”
@naeweenippy was angered by the results: “If this is true then Scotland is in trouble. Strange days when the SNP have the power to fend off all comers but can’t get the majority to achieve independence?”
@Dougiemacm said: “This article must be one of the best examples of how to approach a story about highly positive data for the SNP from an angle that will give least possible benefit.”
@Lynny_5_1 simply wrote: “No surprises here.”
