Alloa out of relegation zone thanks to comeback

-

Alloa’s remarkable resilience reached new heights as they came from a goal down to beat Morton and climb out of the Championship’s bottom two.

Trailingtoacontroversial Greg Kiltie penalty, Andy Graham levelled and then on-loan Livingston striker Jack Hamilton won it ten minutes from time with his first goal for the Wasps.

It means Falkirk are now bottom, with Partick in the play-off place and Morton dragged into the relegation mix. They have won just once in 12 league games and werebooed them off.

They missed two decent first half chances. Gregor Buchanan headed Charlie Telfer’s free kick past the left post in 14 minutes. Then in 23 minutes Buchanan headed down Chris Millar’s free kick for what seemed a certain goal for Gary Oliver but the striker swiped and completely missed the ball.

The game’s contentious moment came in 50 minutes when referee Steven Kirkland rather harshly judged that Andy Graham had brought down Greg Kiltie in the box. The Alloa players were incensed and Graham was booked for complaining but Kiltie stayed cool to slot the spotkick into the right corner.

Graham had his revenge just four minutes later. Jon Robertson picked him out in the box and he drove a right foot shot into the right corner.

Then with 10 minutes remaining there was a sting in the tail.

Dario Zanatta fed Liam Dick on the left side and his driven ball into the box seemed to bounce off two Morton defenders before landing at Hamilton’s feet.

He couldn’t believe his luck as he forced the ball into the right corner for a sensational winner.
