SNP bosses face the prospect of a grassroots challenge over controversial changes to its currency proposals if independence is won. Party activists who want to see an immediate switch to a new Scottish currency are to oppose the leadership’s plans to retain the pound for an indefinite period after any Yes vote.

Seems to be dissent among the most rabid of the Darien dreamers who are now challenging the totalitarian Stalinism of the ruling Porridge Bureau over their inconsistent incoherent “policies”.

Damian Thirsty Deciding on a new currency, are they out of their minds? If after Indy, Scotland rushes off and creates a ‘Jock’ on top of its impossibly difficult economic issues ( outside the UK free trade zone etc) it will be committing its population to ruin. Currency is fundamentally not about politics, it’s based on economic realities. Where a currency is unconnected, chaos takes hold – countries like Zambia and Zimbabwe spring to mind.

Westminster couldn’t run a bath, never mind an economy. I’m voting Yes in Indyref2.

You are playing games with my pensions and life savings, and I don’t like it!

Mcmillan Brown

Independence but still “shackled” to the UK. What’s the point?

Mike Lowery

Aye, having the central bank of your major competitor nation setting your monetary policy for you is a really good idea, eh? What could possibly go wrong?

Paul Holyrood

It’s all irrelevant anyway as there will be no independence. There’s not enough voters daft, bigoted and on benefits to vote for it.

Thebheastsshallbeouted

Yes, but the SNP continues to waste valuable money and time pursuing the daft dream instead of getting on with the business of improving Scotland for all of its people

Derek Farmer

If ever there was an exercise in total inane futility, it’s these halfwits discussing independence, something which isn’t going to happen. It’s akin to discussing what they will do if there is a meteor strike in Govanhill.

Bill Dutch

New members of the EU MUST use the euro. Don’t let the SNP tell lies that they don’t and cite Demark or Sweden. You need to remember they are ALREADY members and not new applicants. Rules were changed. So we will get more waffle about currency and all the time ignoring the fact, we are not independent.
