Oil services firm steps up offshore activity

- By EMMA NEWLANDS

An Aberdeen-based oil services business has more than doubled its work in the UK offshore sector over the past year.

Tendeka supplies technologies to maximise production from reservoirs, and said the growth in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) has led the firm to make a “substantial” cash injection into manufacturing facilities following the move to new purpose-built headquarters in Westhill in 2017.

Facilities at the site include a workshop with resources to test pressure, temperature and load-testing capacity of downhole equipment, water and gas flow loops, alongside a firmware and electronics research and development laboratory for intelligent technology development.

Chief executive Brad Baker said: “As an Aberdeen-headquartered company, we are encouraged by the UK sector’s support of our technologies. In the last 18 months, we have placed significant focus on the UKCS.

“It has led to several new relationships with both the traditional operators and some of the new players in the region.”

A recent project saw Tendeka design and model the installation of technology for a gas cap blowdown in the central North Sea, to choke back unwanted gas prolonging the ultimate life of the well, and deemed the first project of its kind globally.

Gillian King, vice-president of Europe, Russia, Commonwealth of Independent States and Africa at Tendeka, added: “We have developed a strong technology pipeline for the year ahead and are optimistic about the continued growth within the North Sea.” 0 Gillian King of Tendeka, which has targeted UKCS
