Clarke charged by SFA but Kilmarnock win Mckenzie red card appeal

Kilmarno ck manager Steve Clarke has been charged by the Scottish FA over his criticism of referee Steven Mclean after his side’s match with Ab erdeen last Saturday.

C l a r ke c a l l e d f o r Mc L e a n never to referee another Kilmarnock game, claiming his father’s long career as a player with the club was putting him under pressure. The referee sent off three Killie players as Aberdeen won 1-0. The Rugby Park manager has until 1 May to respond, with a principal hearing date set for 9 May.

The better news for Kilmarnock is they have achieved success in challengin­g one of the dismissals against Aberdeen.

Rory Mckenzie has had his red card rescinded but Kirk B r o a d f o o t ’s w i l l s t a n d f o l - lowing a fast-track tribunal. Mckenzie was ordered off in stoppage-time for violent conduct following a clash with Dominic Ball. But his punishment has been downgraded on appeal to a yellow card for unsporting behaviour.

The Broadfoot appeal failed. He was sent off for a challenge on Dons goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

Hearts and Aberdeen have been fined £500 each by the Scottish FA after their players squared up to each other during the Ladbrokes Premiershi­p match at Tynecastle last month.

The Pittodrie club admitted the charge while Hearts were found guilty despite an appeal.
