What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?
A beautiful jacket with fabulous pearls on the sleeve from Mother of Pearl. In the past sustainable fashion was a bit hippy- ish for my liking, but I love this designer’s clothes and their values are incredible.
What are you addicted to buying?
I’m a trainers girl – my current favourites are black studded ones from Zadig and Voltaire – and I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect red lipstick.
Best ever bargain?
An Edwardian- inspired long black skirt that I got from Miss Selfridge in the Nineties. I wear it dressed up or with trainers and a T- shirt. When I first bought it, I wore it on my hips, but 30 years later, it’s on the waist. I think I paid £ 18 for it.
Who has great style?
Yasmin Sewell makes anything look elegant, as does Amanda Harlech, who has this incredible timeless style that always looks fashionable. I’m a massive fan of Stella Mccartney and Victoria Beckham always makes a boy’s suit look feminine.
Name your favourite high street shop.
Topshop.
Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?
I had a period in my youth when I made an outfit every week to go to the clubs in Milan. Looking back, I wonder what on earth I was doing. Every week I fashioned something out of sequins and satin and generally added a Sixties vibe. However, in my forties, I now enjoy my mistakes and deliver them. Just this week I bought a pair of neon leg warmers.
What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?
A vintage kimono that I bought in Tokyo many years ago. n
