Developer pushes ahead with planned hi-tech hub at Glasgow’s Pacific Quay

● Proposed G51 site seen as underlinin­g location’s attractive­ness to businesses

Glasgow is in line for a new hitech business hub at Pacific Quay, to be known as G51.

York-based Expresso Proper ty has concluded missives for the acquisitio­n of 1 A Pacific Quay with Scottish Enterprise and is in the final stages of planning for the forthcomin­g business hub on the waterfront of Scotland’s largest city.

Future occupiers will sit alongside Pacific Quay occupiers including BBC S cotland, which has its headquarte­rs there, STV, Capital Radio, Glasgow Science Centre and Imax together with commercial offices for Bip Solutions.

The new scheme is designed by Holmes Miller Architects, and will comprise 55,000 square feet of grade A, highly digitally connected open plan office space, arranged across ground and three upper floors.

Each floor is “designed with well being in mind ”, while also planned are 30 secure car parking spaces and electric car charging points ,44 secure cycle spaces, 48 cycle lockers and a cycle repair station, showers and parcel delivery lockers.

Nick Robinson of Expresso Property said: “Alongside our joint venture partners from Northern Ireland who have delivered substantia­l office developmen­ts throughout the UK and Ireland, we are delighted to announce that we are in the final stages of planning.”

He added that Ex pr es so’ s proposal for G51 aims to “suit contempora­ry occupiers” that promote wellbeing at work, for example, while he also highlighte­d high-speed transport links and an “unrivalled” quality of environmen­t.

Gerald McKe ever of joint venture partner Osprey said: “We are delighted to be involved with Express op roper ty in providing an exciting new waterside facility for Glasgow. We come with worldwide experience of Quayside office developmen­t, which we can bring to Pacific Quay.”

Craig Mill ar of Scottish Enterprise said :“We are pleased to be working with Expresso P roper ty and welcome their proposals, which will help to underline Pacific Quay’s appeal as an attractive business location.”

Paul Broad of letting agency Avison Young said: “A selfcontai­ned office building with a waterfront aspect and surroundin­g amenities offers a great opportunit­y in Glasgow. The building quality, specificat­ion and scale are suited to a single occupier who wishes to secure their ‘own front door’ office with significan­t branding potential.”

Expresso in 2017 announced £100 million plans to develop sites in Glasgow and Perth. Its ventures include Per th Mill Quarter and Park Quadrant Residences in Glasgow.
