Dandizette gives Nicholls his first Musselburgh winner as a trainer

- By GORDON BROWN

Dandizette, the first course runner for ex-jockey Adrian Nicholls, landed the featured Join Racing TV Now Nursery Handicap at Musselburgh yesterday.

A filly with tons of speed, the 5-1 chance made all the running for leading apprentice Sean Davis on her way to beating 11-4 favourite Bill Neigh by three quarters of a length.

Nicholls, now a trainer based near Thirsk, said: “Musselburgh was always a lucky track when I was riding and this is a smashing prize to win.

“This filly has shown plenty of toe since day one and she hardly put a foot wrong all season.”

Davis went on to complete a double when Jonny Levens’ Irish raider Your Pal Tal foiled a gamble on 5-4 favourite War Ensign in the 5f classified stakes.

Ride of the day came from Hawick-born Jason Hart, who brought My Ukulele from last to first in the opening Like Racing TV On Facebook Handicap.

Winning trainer John Quinn said: “She did it well in the end and enjoyed being switched off out the back.”

Meanwhile, Indian Raj looks ready to strike again in the Berrylands handicap at san down.

Stuart Williams’ five-yearold began the campaign by outrunning expectations on his return from a 629-day layoff when a close-up fourth in a competitive Ascot handicap.

He was way below that level next time, then took a big step back in the right direction at Yarmouth this month. Dropped 4lb since successive wins in 2017 for this switch back to five furlongs, the lightly-raced gelding has the classic profile of a winner in waiting.

Heritage seems to have found her niche at Bath and can prove the point by completing a quick hat-trick in the Rainbow Casino Birmingham Handicap.
