fleetness just concentrated on slagging off an opponent, rather than engaging in reasoned arguments. When was the last time Sturgeon met her constituents in Govanhill?

hedging bets You have to laugh, the outof-touch Unionists have made merry that Bojo will put Nicola in her box and shut down the “shortbread senate”. Fast forward to reality, and Bojo leaves Bute House by the back door, whilst running from Nicola’s offer to have a live TV debate.

Edinman I think you’ll find departing from the rear of Bute House is police practice: it avoids inconveniencing the general public passing the front of the house.

First question in the debate, “what are indy’s policies, what are its assets”.

“I’m slightly surprised that he didn’t have the chutzpah or the guts to go and meet people in Scotland,” says the person who only seems to meet schoolkids.

Duncan Mitchell She is big and bold now that Boris has gone, and, true to style, she can only attack. She wants a TV discussion with the PM, knowing full well that Boris will refuse. And yet another reset of her independence timetable. As for refusing to meet the people, why doesn’t she invite him to her constituency?

634 TDJ How desperately sad and bitter that the FM refuses to display the Union Flag. It is the sort of behaviour you would expect from a schoolkid.

Handsome Scotsman Bit like [Sturgeon] then?

John who? The UK government will dramatically increase spending to prepare for potentially crashing out of the EU, including diverting £100 million for an advertising campaign to raise awareness ahead of a no-deal Brexit, it emerged.

“If you want peace, prepare for war.” This seems like sensible preparations. And yes, it does show the EU that the Government is serious with its intent to leave,

with or without a deal.

Absolutely right.

Michael Stensh-brown Presumably half the budget will be allocated to Scotland so that, in the event the EU doesn’t want us without the offshore revenue it has its eye on, a positive campaign based on the opportunity to negotiate freedom of movement trade deals with North America can be pursued once England is independent.

Overnight they can find a billion quid to waste on something that the UK population doesn’t want but have spent the last 10 years starving all public services of desperately needed cash. Brilliant. Well done Tories.

Dunnomuch

A “deal” can be struck after we leave.

Wee Scunner How would the border issue in Ireland be handled?
