Trouble brewing? Unite – or not?

-

A no-deal Brexit could trigger “consumer panic”, food shortages and an increased security threat within a fortnight, according to a leaked Government document.

“Could”. The most over used word about Brexit.

Paul Holyrood Probably similar to the “leaked reports” back in 1999 which told us that most of the IT systems would collapse at the Millenium! Seems like we are still here. Watch this space .... October 31 will come and go and life will go on. The Doom & Gloom brigade will then need to move on and whinge about something else.

Mr Grumpy2 There were no leaked reports about the millennium bug. It was public knowledge. It was an actual problem, potentially with catastrophic consequences. The reason nothing happened in the end was that the problem was foreseen, made very public and then the IT world spent almost 3 years focusing on it planning, fixing and testing.

Dunnomuch Panic, gloom, doom. When will newspapers print the positive aspects of Brexit? The shaking off of the tyrannical shackles of the unelected pocket dictators who run the sclerotic EU, for example? A halt to the enormous annual bungs that are squandered on questionable EU activities, policies, unnecessary civil servants, and top heavy administration?

Mikieboy51 Here we go again another scare story... anybody who believes this rubbish is seriously deluded. Are people that pathetic to think that the Government will let us starve?

elle hague I don’t think the Scottish Government will but I’m completely uncertain about the Westminster one

Been Around In the event of a no-deal, we’ll find that life will go on at a quite normal pace. We will pay more for our imports from the EU; they will pay more for our exports. But we’ll be free to open our seas again for anyone from the UK who wants to fish in them; free to make our own rules. Pesident Trump will fast-track a freetrade arrangement, which hopefully includes Canada and Mexico. So, take a deep breath, it’s not all bad!

A Fine Disregard By Johnson’s government own admission there is going to be trouble. All this activity regarding “war cabinets “and daily crisis meetings hosted by Gove does nothing to allay public fears.
