Here are the experts from across the Scottish food and drink industry who are joining this year’s panel
Th e j u d g i n g p a n e l f o r t h e Scotsman Food and Drink Aw a r d s 2 0 1 9 h a s b e e n announced, with some key industry experts, including two of Scotland’s top chefs and the S cotsman’s ver y own restaurant critic.
The Scotsman Food and Drink editor Sean Murphy will chair the six-strong panel, which will feature one of the country’s top restaurant critics and food writers – our very
own Gaby Soutar. Joining them will be two of the country’s top performing chefs in Gary Maclean, Scotland’s National Chef and winner of Masterchef: The Professionals, and Lorna Mcnee, one of the brightest talents in Scotland’s culinary scene and a star of Great British Menu.
Lorna Young, the talented ambassador behind Dumfries and Galloway Food and Drink’s ambitious new target, will also be returning after a successful spell on last year’s panel.
Lorna said: said: “It’s an honour to be asked to take part in the judging panel once again. Last year’s awards were a testament to the strength of our industry and the passion that resides within it, and The Scotsman is to be congratulated for championing Scottish food and drink through such a well designed and ambitious awards programme.
“I’m looking forward to reading the nominations and finding out more about examples of excellence the length and breadth of the country.”
A representative from this year’s main event sponsor will also be on hand to cast a keen eye on those nominated.
