#TONIMORRISON
Nobel Prize-winning American novelist, essayist and teacher Toni Morrison has died at 88.
@Bbcworld opened with a Morrison quote: “‘We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language. That may be the measure of our lives’.”
@Roseamond wrote: “If you haven’t read a Toni Morrison novel, you are really missing out.”
@Awonderfulbook wrote: “So sad. Beloved is a favourite of mine. May she rest in peace.”
@susancanyon tweeted: “Sad, but what a contribution she died with grace.”
@Mollymaeston1 said: “Nothing sad about it. She’s 88.”
@Mmkulang wrote: “Authors never die, they transform themselves from something which is mortal into immortal thing. May her precious soul Rest In Peace.”
@Anneredmond13 wrote: “To paraphrase a famous quote, when a woman of greatness passes from our ranks, we are all diminished.”
@ryanwclement tweeted: “#Tonimorrison RIP Like millions around the world, I have had the pleasure of reading all her published works and meeting her at the Edinburgh Book Festival many years ago where she gladly signed copies of her book for me (and tirelessly for many of her #Beloved fans).”
#VIDEOGAMES
Video game makers and players are speaking out after the industry was blamed by President Trump as one of the reasons behind the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
@Joedefacto said: “If anything, I would contend that video games would actually curtail mass shootings.”
@Poseidonwavy added: “When I get pulled over for speeding I’m going to blame Grand Theft Auto and Need For Speed.”
@Rayne_666 wrote: “Better ban books as well. Any story with violence. It isn’t video games, it’s misdirected pain and mania.”
@jaisalpatel added: “Politicians see video games as an easy scapegoat to hide their inaction on major political issues in order to keep the support of those who will blindly follow them. We need politicians who will end the tribulation by finally taking action and not falsely blaming it on video games.”
@grantbaines wrote: “I blame Super Mario for my debilitating turtle stomping problem.”
