Reports say staff at 10 Downing Steet have been told to cancel all leave until November, fuelling speculation Boris Johnson will call a snap election.
@Realnatalierowe wrote: “Let’s roll our sleeves up @jeremycorbyn and get this Party started.”
@Rorison added: “Makes sense. Boris wants a majority government which he doesn’t have at the moment and he wants to be able say he was fairly elected. Even though he’s an idiot and I like Corbyn, I still think the Tories will hold on. The media hates JC. He’s not worse than BJ though.”
@thestegmeister cheered: “I hope so! Because it would be bye bye Boris!”
@H00d0r tweeted: “Ah democracy at work. Subverting parliament to enact an advisory referendum.”
@gbktas said: “Why do we need an election – MPS just need to unite against Tories.”
@Michaelshillia1 said: “This more likely hints at extreme no-deal preparations!”
@worthinghornet wrote: “So they have to cancel leave but the MPS can stay on their joillies until September. It’s not Parliament it’s a threering circus.”
@Prospero1 added: “How much does the govenment have to p*** away in elections to make a decision?”
NORWICHCATHEDRAL
Norwich Cathedral has installed a 55ft-tall helter skelter in its nave so visitors can get a better view of its ornate roof. Rev Canon Andy Bryant said the idea came to him when he was visiting the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
@Bulldog665 wrote: “This is disgraceful, whoever allowed this should hang their heads in shame.”
@Navy_swan said: “To me it seems like quite the degradation of a Holy site. Like putting a burger stand next to a Shinto prayer box or a Wack-a-mole in a Mosque entrance. Quite disrespectful [of] whoever approved this stunt.”
@kevintasteph said: “God wouldn’t want people enjoying themselves, would he?”
@Penpendragon said: “Perhaps it’s a metaphor for Dante’s Descent into Hell?”
@Lfizzia added: “I hope God likes this else there may be Helter pay.”
@Majortom2ground said: “If they put a cathedral inside a helter-skelter, THAT would be edgy.”
@Silo_1980 tweeted: “It’s a good idea but a slippery slope if you ask me.”
