Uddingston eyes on weather, not title
Uddingston
could today clinch their first Western Premier title since 2013 if results go their way. Victory over second-placed at Bothwell Castle, combined with defeat for third-top West of Scotland at Ferguslie would spark celebrations in the Uddy camp.
However, captain Bryan Clarke refuses to look too far ahead and is focused on beating the weathe,r which has done its best to wreck the sea
Prestwick
son for so many. With last week’s card wiped out and rain having fallen most days since, all eyes are again on the forecast and Clarke said: “We’re just looking forward to playing, to be honest. We really can’t do an awful lot more with the ground. The groundsman, along with a few of us, has made sure everything is prepared, so we’re hopeful of getting the game played.”
The corresponding fixture earlier in the season went in favour of Uddingston but they were pushed all the way by a Prestwick side who know the title will be theirs if they win today and again when they entertain Ferguslie on the last day of the season.
West of Scotland’s
hopes of title glory are probably over but they will attempt to improve on their third-top berth when they head to Meikleriggs to face
Ferguslie. Drumpellier
need to win both their remaining matches to give themselves a chance and they will not find it easy when visit Langloan. will be safe if they beat at New Williamfield, while will lift any lingering doubts about their top-flight status if they deny a first win of the campaign at Shawholm.
