#PARLIAMENT
Twitter was abuzz with reactions to Boris Johnson’s bid to close down Parliament.
@Nicolasturgeon wrote: “So it seems that Boris Johnson may actually be about to shut down Parliament to force through a no-deal Brexit. Unless MPS come together to stop him next week, today will go down in history as a dark one indeed for UK democracy.”
@Barryfuters wrote: “You ignore a democratic vote then get your knickers in a twist when Boris tries to complete on a referendum result. You couldn’t make it up...”
@Markbarry67 predicted: “If he does this, we’re out. No holding back any more, Scotland leaves UK.”
@Getbritainout tweeted: “CORRECTION! The Prime Minister wants to shut down Parliament in order to deliver on what the People voted for. Those trying to stop him are the ones undermining Democracy.”
@elgetslost wrote: “Realising that Parliament may genuinely be suspended to force through a no-deal Brexit has made me realise how much I take my democratic rights for granted. I am terrified that this is even a conversation we are having in 2019.”
#RUTHDAVIDSON
Nicola Sturgeon called on the Scottish Conservative leader to mobilise her MPS to keep parliament open. The message went out that Ms Davidson would not be available for interview.
@Ruthwishart wrote:
“A few days ago Ruth Davidson mocked the FM for campaigning in the Shetland by-election when the GERS figures were released. Today – with the biggest political story of the year breaking – she’s ‘not available for interview’.”
@Johnnydundee wrote: “Dear BBC/STV News. If Ruth Davidson is saying she won’t be giving interviews today, you find out where she is, you doorstep her, & you shove a mic in the vicinity of her mouth & you ask her repeatedly for answers. If it’s good enough for Nicola Sturgeon it’s good enough for Ruth.”
@Kathleenszwebs added: “Ruth Davidson – the once ardent remainer of the EU – has gone into hiding whilst her boss tries to drag us out with no-deal by shutting down parliament. And she says.. nothing.”
@Cleanersecret wrote: “Ruth Davidson is too busy job hunting and updating her CV to answer questions about Scotland’s future.”
