#BORIS JOHNSON SPEECH
Boris Johnson told the Tory Party conference that parliament “refuses to deliver Brexit... and refuses to have an election”, saying: “Voters have more say over I’m a Celebrity than they do over this House of Commons.”
@Jimcognito2016 said: “Says the man who won the office of Prime Minister with fewer votes than Harry Redknapp got to win the last I’m a Celebrity.”
@_Timtraveller commented: “So the Tory manifesto will include sweeping wholesale constitutional changes to ensure the people have much greater jurisdiction over parliament in future? Unless the lack of accountability of parliament is code for “parliament won’t do what I want”.
@Fizzybook posted: “Makes my blood boil to see the cabinet giggling at his every word – all their principles flushed down the toilet.”
@Yorkshirelad_87 said: “If it’s all about the people then Johnson should put his Brexit deal or no-deal to the public vs Remain – if Brexit is the ‘will of the people’, what’s to worry about?” @dare_to_fail posted: “Has Boris just indicated that he wants us to move to a direct democracy? Quite the statement.” @Mindful345 added: “Trying hard to find substance in this rant, simplistic – not in a good way. All these silly jokes, references and putdowns are an insult to our intelligence. ”
#PETERSISSONS
Former BBC and ITN newsreader, and Question Time presenter, Peter Sissons has died at the age of 77.
@filmscorematt said: Peter was human, very human, a quality lacking in some of the current newscasters. I miss the kind of genuine, good-natured, down to earth, egalitarian flavour he brought to the screen.”
@Philtographie posted: “The face of news for an entire generation, rest in peace.”
@chargwyn commented: “A good and experienced newsreader, but more than that lovely human being.”
@prdalgleish added: “Peter Sissons represented journalism with integrity and professionalism. Never was he needed more.”
