Enable holds all the aces as she bids for Arc hat-trick

- By GLENDALE

Enable can make turf history at Parislongchamp tomorrow by becoming the first horse to win the Qatar Prix de l’arc de Triomphe three times.

The remarkable mare has taken all before her in a glittering career that has yielded 13 wins from 14 starts, including 10 Group Ones.

A hat-trick of Arcs tomorrow would be the icing on the cake – and Enable can do what even the brilliant Treve could not quite manage.

Her bid for immortality was thwarted by Golden Horn, who lifted Europe’s premier prize in 2015 for the same John Gosden-frankie Dettori trainer-and-jockey combination as Enable.

Enable was an easy winner when the race was rescheduled to Chantilly in 2017, and managed to hang on from Sea Of Class as the showpiece event returned to its spiritual home last year – despite having a restricted campaign.

It has been more straightforward this season – with victories in the Coral-eclipse, King George and Yorkshire Oaks which have highlighted all the elements of her amazing talent.

This will be the smallest Arc field Enable has faced, and she holds all the aces. French Derby winner Sottsass could give her the most to do – while Waldgeist, fourth last year, may creep into a place. Meanwhile, Faylaq can take the step up in class in his stride in Ascot’s Property Raceday Targets 3M Cumberland Lodge Stakes this afternoon.

William Haggas’ three-yearold tries Group class for the first time, having improved most significantly in handicap company this summer.

Faylaq has justified favouritism in three of his last four starts and the beautifullybred colt clearly has potential to continue his swift progress.
