MSPS fail in bid to block workplace parking tax

- By GINA DAVIDSON

Attempts to ditch the workplace parking levy from the Transport Bill have been derailed.

Labour MSP Neil Bibby had argued it was unfair and would hit low paid workers the hardest.

However MSPS rejected the bid to scrap it, after the SNP and the Greens united to defeat his amendment.

Mairi Gougeon, minister for rural affairs and the natural environment, adds her message to a “tree” as WWF Scotland invited MSPS to their popup forest to view messages from people all over Scotland sharing what they love about our wildlife, landscapes and environment.

It comes a week after the State of Nature report showed many of Scotland’s iconic species are continuing to decline, with 11 per cent at risk of extinction and almost half showing significant declines since records began.

WWF Scotland is asking for stronger protections for Scotland’s diverse flora and fauna.
