Corbyn to set out key Labour election policies
Jeremy Corbyn will set out Labour’s key election policies in a major speech today.
The Labour leader will use a speech to highlight six policies the party will include in its next manifesto – a £10/ hour minimum wage, a fracking ban, free personal care and prescriptions, scrapping tuition fees, ending rough sleeping, and a “final say” referendum on Brexit.
Mr Corbyn will say that Boris Johnson’s Queen’s Speech on Monday will be a “farce” because the government lacks a majority to deliver policies.
He will add: “Holding a Queen’s Speech before an election is a cynical stunt.
“Johnson is using the Queen to deliver a pre-election party political broadcast for the Conservative Party.”
Responding to the prime minister’s accusations he is afraid of an election, Mr Corbyn will say: “It’s simple: obey the law, take No Deal off the table and then let’s have the election. We’re ready and champing at the bit. There’s only one reason it hasn’t happened yet – we can’t trust you.”
