Ruthless performance by ambitious Scotland side was a real joy to watch
What a relaxing watch this was! Japan couldn’t, Samoa couldn’t, Ireland couldn’t but Scotland emphatically could put what has been a very stuffy Russian team at this World Cup properly away. And it could have been many more points. Russia’s World Cup form has been immeasurably better than their immediate pre-tournament form and they will be disappointed to exit on this bum note. Maybe it was a game too far for Russia who have now not scored a point in more conducting the team wonderfully as well as scoring two tries and converting eight of the nine that Scotland scored. Such a comfortable scoreline was certainly not envisaged by many of us pre kick-off.
Darcy Graham, as we have come to expect, was electric and had a hand in several tries. He will have a key role to play against the tournament hosts on Sunday. George Horne was extremely sharp and is a constant menace. Horne is a great threat starting a match as well as off the bench.
Gregor Townsend was judicious with his starting line-up and with his use of the substitutes. It was interesting to see Magnus Bradbury
