by nationalists you might just be as daft as they are. People have had no solutions offered up in response to the 2014 referendum rejection. Nationalism is a noisy beast by its very nature. All of that noise does not translate into new support.

The separatists really have to get their act together if they want to get anywhere. They are not going to convince Scotland just by marching about, waving flags, and seeking neverendums. The truth is, 2014 was an attempt to bounce Scotland into breakaway on a wave of patriotism and emotion. They were very fortunate to get as far as they did. The electorate are far more cynical now, and the case for independence really has to be founded on detail, warts and all, no glossing over inconvenient truths.

Evidently, not only does the supposed pro-independence surge not exist but, if anything, there is an antiindependence surge.
Reality Demands To Be Heard The majority of Scots know that staying in the UK is the best option.

For “independence” to be credible it has to be a bottom-up groundswell case sustained over a lengthy period of time.

I suspect many Scots are fed up with Holyrood and the disasters they preside over. Better the devil you know and stick with Westminster.

Independence is a natural state of affairs for countries. A narrow majority (51 per cent) were more supportive of the Union. Another referendum would be closer than last time. The Union hasn’t covered itself in glory these last five years and most Scots will always be unhappy with English Tories in power.
Miles Davis Union is also natural for many successful countries, e.g. Germany, USA.
Remain Uk European Council president Donald Tusk has reassured MPS that a Brexit extension is still on the table as they prepared for a Commons showdown on Boris Johnson’s deal.
Knock this Brexit nonsense on the head; a “simple in/out vote” was obviously never on the cards, there was never any prospect of getting an extra £350 million a week for the NHS, and the “easiest trade deal” in history was obviously daft. Let’s not even have another referendum, just revoke Article 50 and chalk it up to experience.
Remain UK Is this the Tusk who said this is the only deal? If our MPS need more than three years to argue the toss, no extension is needed. The Remain members at Westminster want just that. Don’t believe an extension will make them change their minds.
Grumpy So Tusk says yes, Macron says no and Juncker says maybe. So all we really know is that we don’t know.
Spooked Drivers of zero-emission cars could be given green number plates to help them benefit from incentives for cleaner vehicles.
What about the emissions on the manufacture of them?
Gavin Beattie Cars, electric or otherwise, must be the ultimate disposable product bought by the general public. Manufacture involves a mountain of plastic and metal, emitting what must be tonnes of CO2. Then after less than 15 or 20 years’ use at best, they end up on the scrapheap.
Stewart Gillan They should be given flashing green lights to let everybody know they are on the way to a climate emergency, and inferior plebs like me on my bike will have to defer and pull over to let them by.
