Spoils shared in Fife derby

League 1 Leaders Raith Rovers remain top and second-placed East Fife remain undefeated after a 1-1 Fife derby at Stark’s Park.

The Methil men took the lead on 25 minutes when Steven Boyd sent a low shot past David Mcgurn. The equaliser arrived ten minutes later when Brad Spencer flicked home a corner.

Raith’s Jamie Gullan missed the best chance of the second half when he shot straight at Jordan Hart, to leave Raith manager John Mcglynn saying: “We were the more dominant and deserved to win.”

Falkirk failed to jump above both sides after losing at home for the first time in a 1-0 defeat by Clyde.

Darren Smith lobbed in from 20 yards nine minutes from time, with the Bairns’ Morgaro Gomis dismissed shortly afterwards.

Dale Hilson prodded

Forfar into a first-half lead against visitors Airdrie but the Diamonds roared back to win 4-1. Dale Carrick’s shot on52minute­ssquirmedo­ver the line and within a minute Calum Gallagher had the visitors ahead. Callum Smith and Ali Roy scored late on.

Peterhead paid the price for missing chances at

Dumbarton when Ryan Mcgeever struck nine minutes into the second half to earn the Sons a 1-0 win.

One of Montrose’s two Cammy Ballantyne­s, the full-back one, hit the winner as Stranraer were defeated 2-1 at Links Park.

Sean Dillon nudged Montrose ahead early on, however James Hilton levelled on 71 minutes before Ballantyne drilled home the winner.

In League 2, Elgin City moved into the top four after a 3-1 win against Queen’s Park at Borough Briggs.

Brian Cameron put the hosts ahead on 23 minutes but Salim Kouider-aissa quickly replied when he tapped home after Tom Mchale had saved his penalty kick.

Shane Sutherland re-establishe­d Elgin’s lead from a tight angle, with the striker drilling in again six minutes from the break.
