Sir Andy Murray and his wife Kim are celebrating the birth of a “lovely, happy” boy.

The name of the baby, who is the couple’s third child alongside sisters Sophia, three, and twoyear-old Edie, is yet to be announced.

Grandmother Judy Murray said it was “lovely to have a little boy to go with the two little girls”.

Sir Andy Murray and his wife Kim are celebrating the birth of their baby boy.

The baby, believed to have been born in a London hospital last week, is a wee brother for his sisters Sophia, three, and two-year-old Edie.

Judy Murray, the baby’s paternal grandmother, yesterday described the new addition to the Murray household as a “lovely, happy, healthy baby boy”.

“It’s lovely news, lovely to have a little boy to go with the two little girls,” she said.

She said the baby was born “a few days ago” and then added: “I’ll leave it to Andy and Kim to fill in all the details.”

Murray’s grandfather Roy Erskine, 88, from Dunblane, said: “It’s a wee boy, I don’t know his name yet.

“I’ve seen photos. I’m just glad it’s over.

Mr Erskine said Sir Andy had sent relatives photos of his newborn son with his sisters.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon sent the couple her best wishes by tweeting: “Congrats to Kim and Andy Murray (and Judy Murray too).”

The couple, both 32, married in the tennis star’s hometown of Dunblane in 2015.

Bookies are already offering odds of 500-1 on Sir Andy’s son also clinching the Wimbledon men’s title one day.

David Stevens, a spokesman for Coral, said: “Plenty will hope he can emulate his dad.”

The pregnancy was only announced last month, but avid Murray fans had spotted Sears wearing a maternity top at Wimbledon.

The birth comes as the twotime Wimbledon winner and three-time Grand Slam champion, who feared being forced into early retirement, won his first singles title since careersaving hip surgery by beating Stan Wawrinka at the European Open in October.

He had surgery in January and was playing in just his seventh tournament since returning to singles.

After the tournament, he joked: “I’ll have three kids under four years old. When I’ve been off the tour my family has got bigger, so I need to get back on the road so we don’t get out of control.

“I’m excited for the third kid. My wife’s been a huge support for getting me back on the court and making me fight to keep playing.”

Sir Andy is representing Great Britain in the Davis Cup, which starts on 18 November.
