Indy vision

-

Nicola Sturgeon has set out her vision for an independent Scotland’s role in the European Union with a warning that she opposes the more radical aspects of greater political union brewing within the Brussels bloc.

Support for Scotland’s separation from the United Kingdom has slumped to 44% – even lower than in the “once in a generation” separation referendum. And the word on the streets is that the SNP’S private polling indicates that the nationalist party is struggling to reach 35% of the vote – lower than in 2017 – and with the consequence that the SNP will lose a disproportionately high number of seats because so many of those the SNP held in 2017 are marginals.

Ah’m No Bluffin Is she actually believing that the whole wide world will take Scotland under its wing and continue to subsidise us? Or has she just finally lost it?

Gavin Beattie

Wouldn’t have to worry about EU membership for a while anyway, so the point’s moot. EFTA will do for now.

First she has to obtain permission from Westminster. Then she has to secure a Yes vote in any hypothetical future indy ref. Then there are the small matters of deficit reduction, currency and LOLR. Even supposing she could surmount all that, with six Scottish MEPS out of 750, just how much resonance does she imagine her shrill wee voice will carry?

Do you think she’ll ever understand why some eejits want to blow £70 billion on leaving with no deal?

Toreador

I think she is in such a desperate state that she will say anything in the next few days; the SNP has history of this, especially claiming after the fact that their whole manifesto was about Indy.

Calum Mackenzie Sturgeon’s ramblings are entirely irrelevant (not to say incoherent). 1. There is no increase in support for independence. 2. There is even less support for another referendum on the issue. 3. There is little or no prospect of an independent Scotland being admitted to the EU. 4. There is even less prospect of it being allowed to dictate terms. 5. The only “democratic deficit” that Scotland suffers is the SNP’S refusal to accept the wishes of the Scottish people.

Reality Demands To Be Head Anything to keep in the limelight... the woman is a media junkie.

elle hague She’s truly lost it. Only a complete and utter simpleton could now possibly believe her grandiose proposal to demand EU membership on her terms.

Edmund North

“One of the strengths of the European Union is to raise standards.” Well, we all know how successful that’s been with the SNP, don’t we?

Bog of Despair

Please, please, can we – with the worst deficit in Europe

Was in the area of Princes St for a Christmas Choir last night and the blaring music coming from the gardens was horrendous. I’m not sure what part it had to play in our wonderfully classy Christmas Festival but to me it could only have been considered torturous by residents and tourists alike.
