- By CRAIG P STEWART

Raith Rovers go into 2020 at the top of League 1 after a swashbuckling 5-3 win at the home of title rivals East Fife.

Jamie Gullan swept the Kirkcaldy side ahead and Kieran Macdonald’s cross doubled their advantage before Scott Agnew pulled a goal back from a free-kick. It was 3-1 at halftime when Macdonald scored again and youngster Dylan Tait added a fourth before the hosts rallied thanks to goals by Anton Dowds and Ryan Wallace.

Gullan ended the day as he had begun it by scoring in injury time.

Stark’s Park manager John Mcglynn said: “It was an outstanding afternoon. To come here, score five goals and move two points clear is the perfect way to give 2019 a send off.”

Airdrie and Falkirk drew 1-1 at the Penny Cars Stadium, both clubs moving up a slot in the top four as a result.

The Bairns led when David Mcmillan turned on the spot and fired home on 34 minutes but the Diamonds equalised five minutes later.

Gregor Buchanan was penalised for handball at the edge of the box and Dale Carrick rammed home the resultant penalty.

Montrose left it late but returned from neighbours Forfar with all three points after a 3-2 success.

The Gable Endies led through Ross Campbell’s chip but Ross Forbes quickly replied and Murray Mackintosh had the Loons winning before the break. Graham Webster headed Montrose level before Andre Steeves’ close-range strike won the day. Bottom-ofthe-table Stranraer earned a 1-1 draw at Dumbarton with James Hilton heading in late after the Sons had snatched the lead on 85 minutes through Ryan Tierney.

Peterhead defeated Clyde 2-0 at Balmoor, Derek Lyle scoring in the first half and Scott Brown cracking in the second late on. Team-mate Simon Ferry was dismissed in injury time.
