#IRAQ

After the Donald Trumpordered airstrike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani near Baghdad airport, the US Embassy issued a statement saying that due to heightened tensions in the region, US citizens should depart Iraq immediately.

@davejr1200 said: “Or in other words it’s time to leave because we just committed an act of war by assassinating a country’s General to take the heat off El Cheetoh’s impeachment.”

@mgolojuch said: “To all the #MAGA folks celebrating @ realdonaldtrump’s decision to attack & kill a top Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commander, I hope you & yours enlist to serve in this potential war. Sincerely, a military family member.”

@truthfirst7 said: “Praying that all American citizens get out of Iraq safely.”

@Zoehart48157297 replied: “Should we pray for innocent Iraqis too? Please?”

@dancer39532

said: “There’s a clear contradiction of [Mike] Pompeo saying that Americans in Iraq region are much safer today after the death of Soleimani and the State Dept saying that all Americans must leave the area asap and they shouldn’t go to the embassy at all.”

#LAYLAMORAN

The Liberal Democrat MP for Abingdon said she was in a relationship with a woman, and was ‘pansexual’.

@robholley said: “Growing up in Abingdon I can only imagine what having an openly LGBTQ+ MP would have meant back then. Well done Layla.”

@Thattimwalker said: “I’m grown very fond of @Laylamoran. Good at being human. Humanity more important to her than politics. We could do with a lot more of that.”

@misschazzmatazz

tweeted: “Glad to see someone taking control of their own story rather than being ‘outed’ by certain right wing papers who had threatened to do so. Different parties, different politics but in 2020 no one should have to be one step ahead of the press for being LGBTQ.”

@Dianedark2 said:

“I’m thinking that as she is after the leadership of the Lib Dems she thinks this increases her electability. However, bad judgement, as was their promise to legalise cannabis. Having a gay relationship is no big deal. Ruth Davidson didn’t make a deal of it.”
