Meringue maker ties up tasty supply deals with Lakeland and Scotmid

- By SCOTT REID

Meringue maker Flower & White is to stock its products in branches of high street retailer Lakeland and Scottish convenience store chain Scotmid.

The company’s range of meringue bites and drops will now be sold at 67 UK Lakeland stores, while bars are also available at almost 180 Scotmid stores across Scotland.

The snack range, which was relaunched earlier this year, is said to feature “innovative and unique sustainable packaging”, beating major food industry names to become the first company in the sector to move into plastic-free and 100 per cent recyclable packaging. Flower & White’s 13,000-square-foot factory in

Telford, Shropshire, uses more than 200,000 eggs to produce one million meringues each day. The meringues, which include natural flavours and colours, are gluten-free, lowfat and suitable for vegetarians.

The firm, which recently celebrated ten years in business, also confirmed its products would be stocked on Virgin Atlantic flights, joining other stockists which include Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and QVC.

Co-founder Brian Crowther, who set up the business with his wife Leanne, said: “As we embark on a new year we are looking at even more growth to add to an outstanding 2019.

“To be in more stores across the country is brilliant and will continue to help raise our profile and customer base.”

Leanne Crowther said the firm was looking at further extending the snackable range this summer.

“We are so excited about bringing new products to our customers,” she said. “We’re working on new concepts all the time and we have a new addition to the bars and bites ranges coming out in July. I can’t wait, it’ll be yet another new way to eat meringue.”
