The Lewis actor appeared on Question Time and some were upset by his comments on the Duchess of Sussex and racism claims.

@uxbeconomist wrote: “Sounds like #Laurencefox has managed to upset every virtue signaling identity politics lefty on #bbcqt tonight. Loved the bit about his carbon footprint and how actors make up for it by ‘lecturing others’ not to fly! Bloody brilliant!”

@jason67112374 said: “Turn it round for a second, if he had dismissed the lady in the audience’s opinion because of her skin colour, he would be destroyed today, how is it OK for her to do it to him, it was actually a great example of racism.”

@blackpride wrote: “It’s a lot easier to say racism doesn’t exist if you’ve had the privilege of never being on the receiving end of it.”

@Magnificentzio wrote: “I feel it is now my duty to watch every episode of Lewis in honour of #Laurencefox.”

@literaryharriet tweeted: “I will never understand an adult person who, when listening to the painful lived experiences of others, says ‘Not my fault!’ instead of reflecting upon ways

they might help.”

#DEREKFOWLDS

The Basil Brush, Yes Minister and Heartbeat star has died aged 82.

@realbasilbrush said: “I don’t know what to say, I’m so desperately sad. Such times we had, rest in peace Mr Derek, my best friend forever.”

@joepopprods said; “So sad to hear about Derek Fowlds’ passing. A wonderful man, gentle and caring. One of the highlights of filming Heartbeat was sharing time with him, listening to his incredible stories about his life and career. A beautiful soul who I feel blessed to call a friend. Much missed.”

@Morris_bright recalled him saying: “Over 350 episodes of Heartbeat... no wonder I ended up in Casualty!”

@Therosegoth wrote: “I adored Basil Brush when I was growing up. Derek Fowlds was a great actor.”

@Granttucker said: “Bernard follows Jim and Sir Humphrey to the Whitehall in the sky.”

@jamescleverly tweeted: “I grew up watching and loving Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister. Perhaps Derek Fowlds is part of the reason I am now a politician.”
