The concern Jim Sillars has about Sturgeon, Blackford and those considered the hierarchy of the SNP is genuine. There is not one person among them who possesses the intelligence or reasoning to run Scotland. Scotland is a complete mess under Sturgeon, all she has is the ability to repeat and repeat again the same propaganda about independence, unfortunately for her there is no depth or intellect in her message.

Anne Mackie Were Nationalists confident in their case they would engage with doubters with civility and logic and make a compelling case for an independent Scotland. My suspicion is they know deep down that the case for an independent Scotland makes no sense whatsoever and so they march up and down the hill like the Grand Old Duke of York.

More people die from air pollution in Edinburgh than in any other city in Scotland, a new analysis of data has shown.

“Analysis ... identified the Capital as having the highest proportion of deaths attributable to pollution in the country, ahead of Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen.” Now, which of these three cities has a 20mph speed limit?

Reality Demands to be Heard If you are old enough you can remember what air quality used to be like when we had coal fires. Equally, if you have travelled you will know that air quality in Scotland is fantastic by comparison as we have lots of wind and rain. The hysterics around this is typical of a faction of society determined to misuse and misrepresent data.

Roastin The Greens are reponsible for the uptake of diesel over petrol – all in an pointless virtue signalling exercise. When will our gormless politicians learn to ignore greenwash by the usual [suspects] and resort to common sense?

weescunner Correct. They chose to concentrate on taxing vehicles with low CO2 emissions, completely ignoring the levels of toxic chemicals they were spewing on to our streets.

The controversial decision to stop flying the EU flag on Friday, when the UK leaves the EU, was made a fortnight ago by Holyrood’s corporate body. But it prompted a backlash from the Scottish Government which has been pushing for a rethink.

Gesture politics that will largely go unnoticed by serious politicians. Maybe [Sturgeon] thinks that flying a flag will help her prospects of rejoining the EU if the opportunity ever arose. That would require the ignoring of the somewhat large deficit.

Old Man of Hoy When will the SNP return to the real world? This is another pathetic gesture and I doubt any EU countries will raise the Saltire in support.

Iana58 Education in a mess, NHS in a mess, but that’s right, let’s waste time about flying flags! Stronger for Scotland? Yeah right.

Will the EU be flying the Scottish flag in their premises? Answer: NO. Has the Scottish flag ever flown in any of the EU buildings? Answer: NO. Why is this? Answer: Scotland has never been an EU member state!

Tell me again how flying the flag of our nearest and dearest neighbours and trading partners embarrasses you?

How can you fly a flag of an organisation you have just left? Just because you don’t agree with the decision? About time someone explained democracy to these folk.
