In-demand Raith Rovers youngster Kieron Bowie is set to sign for Fulham ahead of the transfer deadline in a deal which could be worth £150,000 to the Kirkcaldy side.

The 17-year-old will travel down to London today to finalise his move to the English Championship outfit.

He will then return to Stark’s Park for the rest of the season

Hearts were thought to be leading the chase in Scotland for the striker, who only left school last summer but has made a huge impact in League 1 this season.

The teenager, a Fife Elite Academy graduate, made his debut for the Fife side in February last year and has gone on to score tentimes in 28 appearances this term to catch the eye of clubs on both sides of the border.

Meanwhile, Rovers yesterday sealed a loan deal for Hearts striker Steven Maclean until the end of the season. The see the 37-year-old’s experience as a useful tool in their quest to gain promotion to the Championship and the forward was keen for regular first-team football.

He has dropped out of the first team at Tynecastle Park in recent weeks.

Maclean joined Hearts from St Johnstone in 2018 on a two-year contract which will expire at the end of this season. He has made 17 appearances this season, scoring twice.

Rovers boss John Mcglynn said he was “absolutely delighted” to get the deal over the line, adding: “He is a SPFL Premiership player and we have fought off many other clubs from leagues above to get him.

“He is enthusiastic about the challenge and is very much up for it – his experience will help our young players both on and off the park in the run – in to the end of the season.

“Everyone I have spoken to about Steven has mentioned he is a top professional; his intelligence as a striker will get him in good positions to create goalscoring opportunities both for himself and others and I’m sure he will fit in to our style of play.”
