The death of the Hollywood star brought tributes.

@Ian52363269 said: “Stood up to the Mccarthy witch hunts in Hollywood, a great man both on and off the screen.”

@alfieblue added: “One of the all-time great actors!”

@Dannocarter tweeted: “Rest in peace Spartacus!”

@AOJWFL_BFC said: “Although he lived a long and rich life still very sad by passing of Kirk Douglas – a genuinely great star of Hollywood Golden Age (of only tiny few left) who resisted ‘blacklist’, made an amazing list of fantastic movies, started an acting dynasty and was a real humanitarian.”

@Paul63b added: “What an amazing icon of the silver screen Kirk Douglas was. The sad day had to arrive at some point and 103 is an amazing age for anyone to reach. His life should be remembered with joy & happiness, for a long life well lived. I don’t know of a single KD movie I didn’t like.”

@govindajeggy said: “In honour of Kirk Douglas, all of the kirks in Scotland are going to have their dogs removed.”

@Speterghostly joked: “That’s no age. Just when he was getting started in life.” @fishlock_garry tweeted: “He had a damned good innings. Loved his performance in Paths of Glory, farewell to a great man!”

#CORONAVIRUS

The UK Department of Health has confimed a third case of the virus which came to the fore in China.

@uk8qnzl said: “There will be more and more cases unless the UK government stops flights from China! The current policy is insane!”

@Matt528chap said: “Now do people see why we’re panicking with masks!”

@martinjhowlett said: “What about the people they have probably infected? Once they are here it is too late to control the spread. We will be forever playing catch up.”

@Logiclovesyou said: “Can’t wait to see everyone queuing outside their doctors tomorrow morning because of this.”

@bendevon2 replied: “It’s the last place you should go! Reception always tell me off for asking if the waiting room’s full of sickies or malingerers.”

@Blainecharlie3 said: “Just to let everyone know, the purpose of the mask is not to prevent you from getting it, but to stop you from spreading it.”
