Volkswagen reveals pricing for all-new Mk8 Golf
Volkswagen has announced pricing and specification details for the latest version of its iconic Golf.
Available to order now, the eighth generation of the perennial family hatchback is said by VW to set new standards for connectivity and convenience.
Initially, the Golf is being made available in two trim levels with four engine and gearbox configurations.
Life and Style trims will be available from launch, with R-line joining them at a later date. From launch two petrol and two diesel engines are offered. The petrol line-up consists of two 1.5-litre TSI engines with 128bhp and 148bhp, both mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, while diesel options include 114 or 148bhp 2.0-litre units. The lower powered version will come with a 6-speed manual while the more powerful diesel gets a seven-speed DSG transmission as standard, and is available only in the Style trim.
In addition to the sporty R-line trim level, more engine options will arrive over the coming months. These include 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engines, as well as ETSI 48V mild-hybrid 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines. Prices for these will be announced nearer the time of launch.
Prices for launch models start at £23,875 for the 128bhp 1.5 manual petrol in Life trim -expected to be the best seller - rising to £29,170 for the 148bhp diesel auto in Style trim. GTE, GTI, GTD and R models will join the line-up later this year, along with an estate body style
All new Golfs feature alloy wheels; automatic LED headlights; rainsensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors; wireless phone charging keyless start and Volkswagen’s Innovision Cockpit, which incorporates a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and 10-inch central touchscreen with navigation, DAB, USB and Bluetooth connectivity with Wireless App-connect and an in-car Wi-fi hotspot.
